Samsung’s Galaxy Watch line has a history of encountering various bugs and issues, although no smartwatch is without flaws. While some of these issues can be fixed on the Galaxy Watch 5, most require a factory reset, which is not as inconvenient as it would be on a phone.
Although the Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro have not shown any significant issues, it is still possible for bugs to occur. Resetting a Galaxy Watch is not as disruptive as resetting a phone because there are fewer settings to adjust. Additionally, if a backup has been created with a Samsung account, the user will not have to set everything up again.
Resetting the Galaxy Watch 5 or 5 Pro is a straightforward process that requires just a few taps in the settings menu. Before resetting the device, users have the option to back up their data, including apps and settings, to avoid having to set them up again after the reset.
To reset the Galaxy Watch 5 or 5 Pro, follow these steps:
- Swipe down from the main watch face.
- Tap the settings cog.
- Scroll down to General and tap it.
- At the bottom of the page, tap Reset.
- Select the option to back up the device or continue and hit Reset.
Once these steps are completed, the watch will instigate the reset process. The entire reset process typically takes around two minutes to erase all data from the device.
When the reset is finished, your Samsung Galaxy watch 5 will run back to its factory default state.
