HMD has officially launched the Nokia G22, a 4G smartphone that places an emphasis on sustainability and repairability. The G22 is designed to cater to individuals who want to hold onto their phones for as long as possible, with a focus on replacing parts that are most likely to degrade or break.
HMD has partnered with iFixit to provide the tools, guides, and parts needed to replace the battery, charging port, or display. The G22 also features a 100% recycled plastic back cover and comes with FSC Mix certified packaging.
In terms of specs, the Nokia G22 boasts a 6.52-inch HD+ 90Hz display with Gorilla Glass 3, a front 8MP camera with face unlock, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
It is powered by a Unisoc T606 chipset with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB storage. The G22 runs on Android 12 and comes with a promise of 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates. On the back, there’s a triple camera system with a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro unit, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The phone also features a 5,050mAh battery with 20W wired charging.
The Nokia G22 is available starting today in Blue and Grey, with a price point of €179.
