Samsung has released a massive firmware update for its Galaxy S23 series in Europe, which addresses camera issues and offers haptic feedback improvements. The update comes with firmware version S91xBXXU2AWF1 and weighs 2.2GB, so it is recommended to download it over a Wi-Fi connection to avoid additional mobile data charges by your carrier.
Camera Improvements
The June 2023 update bumps up the Android security patch level on the Galaxy S23 trio to June 2023, but more importantly, it fixes the camera autofocus issues, improves Night Mode processing, and adds a 2x zoom option to the Portrait Mode in the default camera app. Additionally, the update should fix the HDR issues the default Camera app faces in certain lighting conditions.
Emergency SOS Feature
The June “Super Update” will force Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 users to keep the Emergency SOS feature enabled permanently, with no option to turn it off. The Emergency SOS Android feature is enabled permanently with no option to turn it off. With the June update, Emergency SOS will remain enabled permanently on the Galaxy S22, S23 series, and some recent foldable models. Those of you Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 series users who have disabled Emergency SOS, understand that the feature will automatically be enabled for good once you install the June “Super Update”.
Other Improvements
The June update brings smoother One UI transition animations and improvements to the haptic feedback. It also optimizes the cameras, exterminates bugs, and might even improve the battery life of the flagship series.
Availability
The update was released in Asian countries last week and is now rolling out in Europe for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
